Book of James (Good Morning Girls)

I've been reading the book of James along with many other women in the GMG Book Club.
I figured I can write the things here that I've been writing in my journal as a weekly wrap up.

Week 1
James 1:1-11

S
- Write out the scripture passage for the day.
Greeting to the Twelve Tribes
1 James, a bondservant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ,
To the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad:
Greetings.

Profiting from Trials
2 My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, 3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. 4 But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing. 5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. 6 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. 7 For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; 8 he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.

The Perspective of Rich and Poor
9 Let the lowly brother glory in his exaltation, 10 but the rich in his humiliation, because as a flower of the field he will pass away. 11 For no sooner has the sun risen with a burning heat than it withers the grass; its flower falls, and its beautiful appearance perishes. So the rich man also will fade away in his pursuits.

O- Write down 1 or 2 observations from the passage.
*James was not boastful about his personal relationship to Jesus, his greatest honor was to be a servent of God.
*To find joy in various trials. We do not rejoice in the trials themselves, but in their possible results.
*Testing of your faith produces patience.

*God Gives without reminding us of our unworthiness.
*Material things will fade

A- Write down 1 or 2 applications from the passage.
Rejoice when trials come to test your faith
Know that patience results when your faith is tested by trials
Endure so that God has enough time to bring about the Christlikeness He intends through trial
Ask God for wisdom! When a trial comes, if you do not know what to do, He does. And he wants to help you through your trials.

P- Pray over what you learned from today's passage.

I'm so glad I decided to follow along with this book club, it really does help keep me accountable. It's really easy to push that quiet time aside for something else I feel I "need" to be doing, but knowing that this "need" for spiritual growth is more important makes me feel good to make it a priority. God is definately moving in our lives and having his words in my heart everyday makes it easier to see that. I find myself pushing harder, following through and feeling fullfilled. Even through the set backs and hardships. Can't wait for next weeks readings, not to mention the motivating videos from GMG!

:) Wishing everyone a good evening!
